Uptown Farmers Market accepts EBT/SNAP cards, making it very easy to bring home the freshest and most nutritious food available. It’s simple to shop, as outlined in these few steps:

1. Upon arriving at the market, go to the Welcome Tent where you will use your EBT/SNAP card to purchase as many $1 or $5 wooden tokens as you’d like. These tokens act as cash within the market and can be used at any vendor with SNAP eligible food items.

2. Uptown Farmers Market is pleased to offer Market Double Bucks for EBT shoppers. For 2024, EBT purchases are matched dollar for dollar up to $50 per week due to grant funding by Mecklenburg County. This program is administered by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Food Policy Council.

3. On the third week of every month, Uptown Farmers Market will continue to offer “Triple on the Third” which means an additional $50 match, made possible by the generosity of the Market’s corporate sponsors. The Market is committed to making healthy food accessible to all.

4. You may buy more tokens if you need, as multiple transactions are allowed in one day.

5. You can keep any unused tokens for the next time you shop the market. Tokens do not expire.

6. Tokens are market specific and cannot be transferred between farmers markets.
